“Volunteering at Lancaster
Homeless Action has made me grateful for my own life, and that I
have a roof over my head”
What can I do?
We are currently recruiting for the following volunteer roles:
• Food
Service Volunteers (during the week and at the weekend)
• Shift leaders (during the weekday
and at the weekend)
• Fundraising
volunteers
• Befrienders
• Substance
Misuse Support volunteers
• Learning
Support volunteers
• Women's
Group volunteers
• ‘Handyperson'
volunteers
How much time do I need to give?
This depends on the time you have to offer! For most volunteer
roles, we ask for at least two hours a month.
What training will I get?
We will provide a full induction, and a Volunteer Handbook
for you to keep, so you feel comfortable and confident in your volunteering.
You will also have all appropriate training, from first aid to substance
misuse awareness. Volunteers have regular opportunities to talk
about their volunteering experiences, and their input and suggestions
are always appreciated.
How about expenses?
Volunteers are welcome to eat with other volunteers and our
clients at the Centre. We will refund travel expenses, whether you
come by bus, train or car.
Who will I be volunteering with?
We have a diverse group of volunteers – you will meet
a wide range of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming.
